Accepted items and prices

Frankston Regional Recycling and Recovery Centre (FRRRC) is open to Frankston City residents, non-residents and commercial customers. The Centre accepts most waste and recycling materials either for free or at low-cost.

On arrival, the gatehouse attendant will assess all materials prior to entering. Loads carrying prohibited items may be refused entry. The gatehouse attendant’s decision is final.

Residents must show a valid driver’s license as proof of residency.

Items accepted for free

The below items are accepted for free. Please note restrictions for certain items.

  • BBQ gas bottles (4.5 to 9kgs)
  • car batteries
  • cardboard and paper
  • e-waste (electronic goods including mobile phones)
  • scrap metal
  • televisions and computers
  • white goods such as fridges and dishwashers
  • co-mingled recyclables such as bottles, cans and jars *
  • household batteries*
  • light globes and fluorescent tubes 
  • VHS, DVD or CDs*
  • X-rays*
  • motor oil - must be clearly labelled in a motor oil container (free for residents only)*

*free for households only, in small amounts

FRRRC also accepts paint and some paint items free of charge, including:

  • interior and exterior paint
  • floor paint
  • deck coatings
  • undercoats, sealers, stains and varnishes.

A maximum sealed container of 20 litres applies, with a maximum of 100 litres per visit. Some items such as aerosols are not accepted. Empty plastic paint buckets are charged as hard waste.

Items accepted at cost

Hard waste

  • re-usable goods such as furniture or bric-a-brac
  • timber
  • clothing
  • carpet and underlay
  • cement sheeting
  • all building materials.

Green waste

  • garden trimmings
  • lawn clippings
  • stumps and roots (maximum 30cm in diameter)
  • tree branches
  • Christmas trees.

Mattresses

  • bed bases and mattresses.

Bricks, concrete and clean soil

  • bricks
  • concrete
  • rocks such as volcanic, scorier and pebbles (charged at soil prices)
  • clean fill soil (.5m3 maximum).

Tyres

  • car
  • truck
  • tractor
  • earth mover.

FRRRC can accept tyres with rims for cars and light truck only.

Items not accepted

  • asbestos
  • chemicals, solvents and fuels
  • domestic garbage
  • food waste
  • gas bottles other than BBQ (4.5 to 9kg)
  • hazardous or medical waste
  • liquid waste
  • any oil other than motor oil
  • fuel-operated vehicles
  • aerosol paint cans.

Any load containing prohibited items may be refused entry.

*Residents can dispose of up to 50 litres of motor oil for free. After that, the cost is 50 cents per each additional litre.

Prices effective from 1 July 2022. All prices are inclusive of the Victorian Government landfill levy and GST. Prices are subject to change.

 

FRRRC Is not a landfill site. No food, liquid or hazardous waste accepted.

Remember to secure your load properly to prevent spillage of waste from your vehicle or trailer.
