Car parking

Most on-street parking in Frankston City is free, except on the foreshore. When parking, please follow any time limits and conditions shown on displayed signage. 

Off-street parking is provided by Council and private operators, including Bayside and Karingal Hub. Most of the off-street parking in the city centre is paid parking.

Free off-street commuter parking is available next to the following train stations:  

  • Frankston
  • Kananook
  • Seaford.

Chisholm parking changes

Redevelopment works are underway at Chisholm Institute on Fletcher Road.  Every effort is being made to to ensure there will be no loss of parking spaces during the course of their building works.

Car parking changes

The following car parks have changed back to their original conditions after the Level Crossing Removal Project works:

  • Fletcher Road car park: 122 Young Street, Frankston
  • Playne Street car park: corner of Playne, Young and Davey Streets
  • Mechanics Institute car park: corner of Bay Street and Plowman Place

Residential parking permits

You may be eligible for a residential parking permits if you live on a street where parking restrictions apply. Eligible residents are entitled to a maximum of:

  • 3 residential parking permits per household  
  • 2 residential parking permits per unit.

Veteran Affairs (DVA) Gold Card holders

If you currently hold a Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA) Gold Card you may be eligible for a free parking permit.

Parking on nature strips

Under the Road Safety Act 1986 (Vic) it is illegal to park on a grassed or landscaped nature strip without a specific exemption. Each Council has a responsibility to enforce this law.

The State Government introduced these rules to: 

  • protect nature strips and the infrastructure located underneath them
  • keep pedestrians and vehicles safe, especially when exiting driveways.

If you believe there is a lack of access to on-street parking at your property please call Council’s Infrastructure Team on 1300 322 322 to discuss potential solutions.

Parking near the Civic Centre

If you are visiting Council offices, there is a selection of parking areas with various time limits. Please pay attention to signage before parking as penalties may apply.
