Parks Victoria - Youth Conservation Action Day

Join Parks Victoria for a hands-on conservation experience focused on removing Disa bracteata (South African Orchid), an invasive weed that threatens native vegetation communities and local orchid species, such as the Purple Donkey Orchid pictured above.

Learn about invasive species management and ecological monitoring while contributing to the protection of important habitat and have a chance to ask Parks Victoria staff about their careers in conservation.

Be prepared;

  • Recommended for ages 16+ (under 18 must have parent/guardian supervision)
  • Personal snake gaiters are highly recommended.
  • 5km+ of walking.
  • Sturdy shoes, long pants and long sleeves, sun protection and insect repellent are essential.
  • Bring plenty of drinking water (no running water or amenities).
