Child Safety

Statement of Commitment to Child Safety

Council has zero tolerance for child abuse, and our priority is to offer children the opportunity to influence matters that affect them as active citizens in our community.

We are committed to creating and maintaining a child safe environment where all children are valued and protected from harm and abuse. All children who attend Council-driven and managed services, programs, events and spaces (including online environments), have the right to be heard and feel safe regardless of age, gender, race, ability, religious beliefs, sexual orientation or social background.

We will encourage and support Aboriginal children to express their culture and enjoy their cultural rights, and we are committed to creating a culturally safe environment.

Council will actively facilitate the voices of children in all sectors, including Council planning, the design and delivery of services, programs and events and in the management of facilities.

We take all reports of child safety concerns seriously and will continue to actively encourage children to raise such issues.
