Becoming an L2P Driving Mentor

The TAC L2P Program connects volunteer driving mentors with young people (aged 16-23) who require support to gain the driving experience they need to pass their Probationary License test.

The TAC L2P Program doesn’t just benefit learner drivers, though.  By volunteering as a driving mentor, you become part of a partnership with Frankston City Council that supports you to connect with your community and make a positive, lasting impact on a young person’s journey.

We have a full training program for volunteers to ensure you’re well prepared to assist a learner driver and understand your role as a driving mentor. Vehicles and insurances are provided by Frankston City Council.

Volunteer driving mentors need to meet the following criteria to be considered for the TAC L2P program:

  • be over 21 years old
  • hold a current full Australian driver license
  • have a satisfactory driver license history report
  • be medically fit to drive
  • be available to drive for approximately 1-2 hours per week
  • willingness to complete all mandatory training
  • uphold Child Safety policies and standards

Additionally, as part of the application process, you will be asked to:

  • provide or apply for a valid (volunteer) Working with Children’s Check
  • apply for a satisfactory National Police Check; and
  • provide two personal referees
