Bus Outings and Excursion Chaperone

 

The Outings and Excursions Program encourages older residents to participate in group outings using Council's 12 seater buses. The outings are a fun way for people to socialise with other members of the community. Outings include lunches and morning teas at restaurants and cafes, trips to the movies and shows, visits to museums and gardens and day trips. Each outing is hosted by a Council staff member accompanied by a volunteer on the bus and at the destination to support the group to socialise and remain safe. 

The program runs on various days during the week, Monday to Friday. Time commitment varies depending on the destination of the outing and is generally from 8.30am to 3.30pm.  Currently we have availability for casual roles rather than regular fortnightly shifts.

Whilst heavy lifting is not required volunteers must be able to independently access bus steps and be physically competent to support staff members with support of carrying items if required ie first aid kit, picnic lunches.

Volunteers start and finish at our office in Seaford.
