Frankston City Council delivered 95 per cent of the capital works projects it had planned for the last financial year, despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
In fact, Council’s Capital Works completion rate has improved year-on-year for the last four years, up from 62 per cent in 2016-17, to 95 per cent in 2019-20.
Frankston City Council CEO, Phil Cantillon, said this exceptional performance was particularly impressive given the impact COVID-19 had on infrastructure works across Victoria.
“I am very proud that we still managed to deliver these important projects for our community in such a restrictive environment.
“The fact that we continued to improve and achieved a 95 per cent completion rate in 2019-20, is an impressive feat.”
Mr Cantillon thanked Councillors and officers for their commitment and hard work, and the community for their input into this year’s planned projects.
“This performance puts us in a great position and as you can see, we already have some very exciting work underway, for completion this financial year.”
Frankston City Mayor, Kris Bolam, echoed these sentiments, congratulating the organisation for adapting so it could forge ahead with projects in a COVID-safe way.
“This is an outcome to be proud of, and highlights the organisation-wide determination we have to deliver for our community, regardless of external challenges.”
The 2020-21 Capital Works Program comprises of 230 projects, including 37 projects carried over from the last financial year. The total budget for these projects is $59.94 million.
Major projects planned for this financial year include:
