Frankston locals and visitors will soon benefit from better access to the city centre, with the reopening of Frankston House car park for public use, delivering much-needed parking for shoppers, businesses, and the wider community.

The upgraded facility at 490 Nepean Highway will include 49 public car spaces, offering up to three hour stays, with the first two hours free.

Frankston City Deputy Mayor Steffie Conroy said the reopening would support the ongoing revitalisation of the Nepean Highway and city centre and improve convenience for shoppers and businesses.

“The growth in new businesses along Playne Street, Wells Street and Nepean Highway means more and more people are choosing to spend time in our city centre.”

“The upgraded Frankston House car park supports that growth, giving locals and visitors the opportunity to spend more time enjoying everything our city now has to offer.”

Located on the corner of Playne Street and the Nepean Highway, the Frankston House car park is housed underneath the recently opened Moon Dog brewery, opposite Hotel Lona and is close to Frankston Yacht Club and the Waterfront precinct.

Parking is available from 7am to 11pm seven days a week, with entry and exit from Kananook Creek Boulevard off Playne Street. The facility will be patrolled by Council each day and has also been fitted with CCTV monitored by both Frankston City Council and Victoria Police.

The opening of the car park follows a $50 million funding commitment from the Federal Government towards Council's Nepean Boulevard Revitlisation Project, set to transform three km of Nepean Highway into a people centric boulevard of housing, hospitality and retail opportunities.

Frankston Business Collective CEO, Bernadine Geary welcomed the car park opening, highlighting the importance of accessible infrastructure for local business growth and community connection.

“The reopening of the Frankston House car park is another positive step in improving access to our city centre. More convenient parking means more people can easily visit local businesses, dine, shop and experience all that Frankston has to offer.”

“We welcome this investment in infrastructure that directly supports our business community and contributes to a more vibrant and accessible CBD,” she said.

Earlier this year Council completed the Federal Government funded Kananook Car Park, delivering 325 free parking spaces, bike facilities, and safer access for pedestrians and cyclists next door to Kananook Station.

This followed the opening of the Frankston Commuter Car Park in December 2024, a joint initiative between the State and Federal Governments which added 500 free parking spaces in a multi-level facility near Frankston Station.

Frankston City Councilor Nathan Butler said the return of the Frankston House car park is another key milestone in the city’s transformation.

“These strategically located car parks are helping to ease congestion, support local business, and encourage people to spend more time in Frankston,” Cr Butler said.

“This reopening marks another step forward as Frankston evolves into a connected, vibrant metropolitan city. From upgrades to public transport links to revitalising iconic sites, like the Frankston Yacht Club and Comfort Station, we’re building a city people are proud to call home.”

The car park will be open to the public from Wednesday 15 October. Car park users should refer to signs onsite for further information.
