Council has awarded 34 local not-for-profit organisations almost $130,000 through the 2025 Annual Community Grants, supporting services, programs, and projects that meet local needs and advance Council’s 2025-2029 Health and Wellbeing priorities.

Funded initiatives include food relief, inclusive sport, seniors’ wellbeing, arts and culture, Aboriginal social and emotional wellbeing, and support for people and their pets.

Successful grants ranged from $1,500 to $7,500.

Frankston City Councillor David Asker said Council was proud to recognise community leadership and keep investing where it makes the biggest difference.

“These 34 organisations share one united goal – to create stronger and fairer communities. This funding puts resources in the hands of locals solving local problems, today and into the future,” Cr Asker said.

Caroline Chisholm Education Foundation Executive Officer Farrah Buckland said the Foundation was deeply grateful to Frankston City Council for its generous grant.

“This funding will enable the Foundation to offer scholarships to individuals within the Frankston community who are experiencing financial hardship,” Ms Buckland said.

“By removing the cost barrier to education, these scholarships empower recipients to pursue meaningful learning opportunities, enhance their skills, and build pathways to employment, independence, and long-term community wellbeing.”

At the September Council Meeting, Council also endorsed an additional $25,000 in 2026/27 under the Local Support Package (LSP) to uplift support for organisations funded in the ‘Safe, Respectful and Equal Communities’ category of Council’s Annual Community Grants. These initiatives help residents live free from violence and discrimination, and prevent harm from tobacco, alcohol, drugs and gambling.

Urgent Grants

Council has added $15,000 to the Urgent Grants Program to help community and sporting organisations respond quickly to emergency situations affecting essential service delivery amid cost-of-living pressures.

Grants up to $1,000 are available now until funds are fully expended or 6 June 2026, when the program closes.

Frankston City Councillor Sue Baker said the expanded Urgent Grants provide practical, much-needed support to community groups fast.

“Unforeseen costs shouldn’t stop frontline help. This boost to Urgent Grants means local groups can act now - not when funding arrives,” she said.

Child & Youth Inclusion Grants

Council also provided an additional $45,000 for the Child & Youth Inclusion Grants, which supports children and young people facing financial barriers to education and recreation.

Eligible support includes up to $600 for education expenses, such as books, uniforms and devices; and up to $250 or 85 per cent of costs for recreation, such as sport or music.

“No child should be left behind because of financial barriers,” Cr Baker said. “This funding means more kids can access the right gear, get out on the field, and feel like they belong.”

The closing date for applications is 6 May 2026 or until funds are fully expended.

Applications for both grant programs can be submitted online through Council’s SmartyGrants portal – https://frankston.smartygrants.com.au
