Presented by Councillor Michael O’Reilly to That’s the Thing About Fishing in recognition of their dedication to supporting individuals affected by physical disability, mental health challenges or family violence, through the creation of programs that use fishing as a therapeutic conduit, encouraging people of all ages to connect with the outdoors as a pathway to physical and mental healing.
That’s the Thing About Fishing has made a meaningful impact in the lives of many by offering a safe, supportive environment through their fishing clinics – promoting social connections, enhancing self-confidence, supporting personal growth and introducing fishing as a therapeutic and life-changing activity.

Frankston Historical Society - 11 August 2025
Presented by Councillor Kris Bolam to the Frankston Historical Society in recognition of the dedication to preserving and sharing Frankston’s historical heritage.
The commitment in preserving and maintaining ballam park homestead and its museum has ensured that Frankston’s rich history continues to thrive - accessible and enjoyable for both locals and visitors, now and for generations to come. Their dedication to conserving the historical building, memorabilia, documents and artefacts exemplifies the profound respect for heritage and conservation of Frankston.
This dedicated group of volunteers has played a vital role in shaping a more inclusive community. Through collaboration with Council, the Committee has supported initiatives such as public recharge points for mobility devices, beach accessibility projects, International Day of People with Disability events, and improved access to Council events, facilities, and public spaces.

Rotary Frankston Peninsula 2.0 – 21 July 2025
Presented by Councillor Steffie Conroy in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the community through impactful fundraising initiatives.
The dedication of Rotary Frankston Peninsula 2.0 has led to the successful installation of beach matting for improved accessibility, the provision of life-saving defibrillators through The Duck Derby, and the creation of The Birth Tree, among many of the meaningful projects delivered.
Their unwavering commitment to service within Frankston City exemplifies community spirit.

Deb Mellet OAM – 23 June 2025
Presented by Cr Emily Green in recognition for her outstanding service to the Frankston Indigenous community.
A proud Gurindji woman and esteemed Elder, Aunty Deb is the General Manager of Nairm Marr Djambana and has been a driving force behind cultural development and community empowerment across Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula. With over 30 years of leadership in social planning and Aboriginal cultural advocacy, she has inspired generations and built lasting community connections.
Aunty Deb’s receipt of the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in 2025, alongside previous honours such as the International Women's Day Award (2017) and NAIDOC Outstanding Woman of the Year (2018), reflects a lifetime of dedicated service.
Frankston is deeply grateful for her continued guidance, leadership, and unwavering commitment to Country and community.

Pink Ladies Auxiliary – 2 June 2025
Presented by Cr Nathan Butler in recognition for being a longstanding and highly dedicated volunteer group at Frankston Hospital since 1968.
Through their dedicated operation of the hospital kiosk and various fundraising initiatives, they have raised over $10 million to purchase vital equipment and enhance patient services.
Their unwavering commitment and compassionate presence have significantly contributed to improving the hospital environment and patient care.

Disability Access Inclusion Committee – 12 May 2025

Peter Talbot – 24 March 2025
Presented by Cr Brad Hill to Peter Talbot in recognition of his dedication and tireless efforts in leading the 3199 Frankston Beach Patrol and keeping Frankston’s beaches clean and safe.
Peter’s extensive work in organising beach clean-ups, engaging with school groups and advocating for litter reduction initiatives has played a vital role in protecting Frankston’s coastline. Through this leadership Peter has inspired countless volunteers, fostering a strong and passionate network, dedicated to sustainability.

Langwarrin Men’s Shed – 29 January 2025
Presented by Councillor Cherie Wanat to the Langwarrin Men’s Shed in recognition of the support they provide to the local community, particularly around social health and wellbeing.
Focusing on men’s health, the community group encourage men to participate in group activities and build teamwork, learn new skills, and share life experiences.
