Biodiversity Blitz 2025

This September, Frankston City Council is celebrating Biodiversity Month by joining forces with neighbouring councils for Biodiversity Blitz 2025!
We’re in a friendly competition with councils across Melbourne – including Yarra Ranges, Baw Baw, Bayside, Cardinia, Casey, Greater Dandenong, Knox, Latrobe, Mornington Peninsula, Nillumbik, Kingston and City of Yarra – to see who can record the most species on iNaturalist.
By taking part, you’ll:
- Discover and learn about local plants and animals
- Contribute to valuable citizen science – real data used by scientists and researchers
- Celebrate and showcase the incredible biodiversity in Frankston City
How to Participate
- Join the project: Visit the Biodiversity Blitz 2025 - Frankston City Council · iNaturalist Australia project page
- Get outdoors: From 1–30 September 2025, explore your local parks, reserves, streets or even your backyard.
- Snap and upload: Photograph the plants, animals and fungi you see, then upload your observations to iNaturalist. Your records will automatically be added to the project and counted towards Frankston’s tally.
Keep Track of the Blitz
- Follow the leaderboard on the Melbourne Biodiversity Blitz 2025 project page to see how Frankston is ranking against our neighbouring councils.
