Frankston City is blessed with a wide variety of nature reserves and parklands, and we take their protection seriously.
National Tree Day is an opportunity for the whole community to get together to help protect the environment as part of a national initiative established by Planet Ark in 1996. Every year, 300,000 Australians venture outdoors, get their hands dirty and engage in environmental activities.
Here in Frankston, we have planned the following:
Council is committed to planting 80,000 trees in the area as part of the Urban Forest Action Plan 2020-2024. It is hoped that Frankston’s tree canopy will grow from 17 to 20% by 2040.
We invite the public to join us in our efforts. For more information contact the Planning and Environment Department at environment@frankston.vic.gov.au.
