Significant Trees on Public Land

Overview

Frankston City Council’s Significant Tree Register was adopted by Council in 2012. It celebrates iconic trees across our municipality that have significant scientific, social, historic and/or aesthetic value. Trees on this list are formally recognised for supporting our community’s health, wellbeing and sense of place. This register also aims to increase stakeholder awareness and influence added protections for these iconic trees during infrastructure upgrades, development and capital works projects.

Mature trees are critical urban infrastructure that support our community by making our city beautiful, keeping it cool and providing habitat for native wildlife. If you would like to learn more about the environmental, social and economic benefits of trees, please see, The Value of Trees

Do you know a tree that deserves recognition?

We invite the community to nominate trees for inclusion in the register. Trees must be located on Council owned or managed land, including parks, nature reserves, nature strips and the foreshore. Nominations are accepted at any time but will only be reviewed when there is a planned update of the register.

2025-2026 Planned Register Update
In July 2025, Councillors allocated funding to update Frankston’s Significant Trees on Public Land Register. Nominations will be assessed by a qualified arborist in early 2026 and successful trees added to the Register.

To nominate a tree for assessment in this update, please complete our online nomination form below or download the nomination form(PDF, 189KB) to submit via e-mail (environment@frankston.vic.gov.auor in person at the Frankston Civic Centre (30 Davey Street, Frankston).
