An exciting opportunity exists for an Independent Chairperson of Frankston Arts Advisory Committee.
The Arts Advisory Committee has been established to embody Council’s vision in all aspects of arts, culture and events throughout the municipality.
The key role of the Committee is to provide independent advice and promote high-quality arts, events and cultural services; recognising the importance of the arts in creating healthy, vibrant and engaged communities.
We are seeking applications from suitably qualified people to lead the Committee as Independent Chairperson ensuring a strategic contribution to enhance the city’s reputation as a centre for arts, culture and events.
Council is seeking the below key skills and attributes:
Leadership & Governance
- Strong understanding of governance principles and procedures
- Ability to lead strategic discussions and drive consensus
- Experience chairing meetings effectively and impartially
- Demonstrated experience serving on committees or boards (essential)
Arts & Culture Expertise
- In-depth knowledge of the arts, culture, and creative industries
- Understanding of the role of local government in supporting arts and culture
- Understanding of how arts and culture contribute to a city’s identity and economy
Community Representation
- Ability to represent community interests in committee decision-making
Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels (Council, artists, public)
- Experience in collaborative decision-making and conflict resolution
Personal Attributes
- Independent thinker with high ethical standards
