There's no election campaign, no sausage sizzle, and no how-to-vote cards.

Instead, Frankston City residents are being asked to vote for something much closer to home – upgrades at their local parks!

Six Frankston City park projects have been shortlisted in Round 2 of the Victorian Government's Pick My Park program, and community votes will help determine which projects receive funding.

Projects at Myrtle (Langwarrin), Cavill (Langwarrin), Escarpment (Frankston South), Alicudi (Frankston South), Rotary (Carrum Downs) and Burgess (Langwarrin) Reserves are all in the running.

Frankston City Mayor Cr Sue Baker said the projects represent priorities already identified by the community.

"We often hear from residents about how important local parks and play spaces are to their families and neighbourhoods," Cr Baker said.

"The projects we've nominated weren't chosen at random. They align with priorities identified in our Play Strategy, which was informed by community feedback and helps guide future investment in play spaces across Frankston City."

Whether it's a playground pit stop, a morning walk, kicking the footy, walking the dog or catching up with friends for a barbecue or picnic, parks, and reserves play a vital role in everyday life.

Council has made significant investment in these spaces, completing 28  play space upgrades across the municipality over the past five years (and more on the way this year) as part of its ongoing commitment to quality parks and open space.

"We're proud of these play spaces, but opportunities like Pick My Park help us to do even more,” Mayor Baker said.

The Pick My Park program is a $30 million Victorian Government initiative supporting new and upgraded parks across Victoria.

Frankston City has already benefited from the first round of the program, securing $915,000 in funding for six local projects, matched by Council to deliver a total investment of $1.83 million in community infrastructure. The first project from round one, accessible paths upgrades in George Pentland Botanic Gardens, will kick off shortly.

Now, the next round is in the hands of the community.  Show your support by voting before 4pm on Monday, 3 August.
