Frankston City residents are invited to enjoy a sausage in bread and a conversation with their elected representatives at a special Pollies BBQ community event on Saturday 15 November, 11am–1.30pm at Ballam Park.

Frankston City Council Mayor Kris Bolam JP and Councillors will be joined by Federal Member for Dunkley Jodie Belyea MP and State Member for Frankston Paul Edbrooke MP. All three levels of government will be in one place – giving locals a rare opportunity to meet their leaders, ask questions, share feedback and talk about the issues that matter most.

Mayor Kris Bolam JP said the event was about celebrating cross-government collaboration and strengthening relationships between the community and its elected representatives.

“Our Frankston City First advocacy campaign, which delivered almost $60m dollars for transformational council-led projects, showed what can be achieved when all levels of government are aligned.”

“This unique event builds on that collaboration, breaking down barriers, encouraging respectful conversation, and showing how we can work together in the best interests of Frankston residents.”

Volunteers from Peninsula Rotary Club will be on the barbecue tongs, with proceeds from the sausage sizzle shared between Rotary and BAM Arts Inc, a much-loved local organisation that provides inclusive performing and creative arts programs for people with disabilities.

State Member for Frankston Paul Edbrooke MP said he looked forward to connecting with the community.

“Together with my local, state and federal colleagues, this is a chance for us to hear directly from the people we represent, in a relaxed and family-friendly setting. Ballam Park is the perfect spot, a place where people of all ages and abilities can come together.”

Federal Member for Dunkley Jodie Belyea MP said the event highlighted the value of partnerships.

“When all levels of government stand side by side, it sends a powerful message that we’re stronger when we work together. I encourage everyone to come down, grab a snag and have a chat with us about how we can keep building a thriving Frankston.”

Frankston City is unique in being represented by one federal electorate and three state electorates:

  • Dunkley (federal) – covering all of Frankston City.
  • Frankston (state) – encompassing Frankston, Frankston South, Frankston North, Karingal and parts of Seaford.
  • Carrum (state) – including parts of Seaford and Carrum Downs.
  • Hastings (state) – encompassing Langwarrin and Langwarrin South.

This means residents across Frankston City have multiple representatives across different tiers of government, and the Pollies BBQ is a rare opportunity to see many of them in one place, working together for the community.

The Pollies BBQ will be held at Ballam Park, Frankston, one of the city’s favourite family play spaces, featuring activities for people of all ages, interests and abilities.
