If you are planning to build or renovate, and your project is likely to impact nearby properties, you may need to contact adjoining property owners to:
- issue a protection works notice
- obtaining adjoining owners comments for a Report and Consent application.
An owner, who is required to serve a notice of proposed building work on the owner of an adjoining property, must take reasonable steps to find the name and address of the owner of the adjoining property for the purpose of serving that notice.
If you are unable to determine the contact details of adjoining owners, then you can request this information from Council.
Visit our request ownership details for fencing purposes if you need to issue a fencing notice.
All other property ownership requests can be submitted as a freedom of information request through the Victorian Building Authority (VBA).
