Artificial Lighting - Impacts & Mitigation
Next date: Thursday, 16 April 2026 | 06:30 PM
to 07:30 PM
Our Backyard Biodiversity series continues with the impacts of artificial lighting on wildlife and what you can do to help.
The presenter is Kelly Clitheroe, President of DarkSky Victoria and the Geelong Section Director of the Astronomical Society of Victoria. She has been a passionate advocate for dark skies, since noticing the degradation of the night sky for her astronomical pursuits. As a wildlife photographer and a member of the Geelong Field Naturalists, she is also keen on ensuring the diversity of species. In her spare time, she's a full-time Maths teacher at a regional high school and enjoys walking around the backyard, like an evil overlord, carrying her pet chicken.
Our next event an ‘Introduction to Native Bees’ is an in-person workshop on Saturday the 16th of May.
