We apply a waste service charge to your rates to recover the cost of Council waste services. Your waste charge is set based on:
This is basically a fee for service and allows ratepayers to decide the bin size and purpose based on their needs.
Frankston City Council’s current Waste Charge funds:
- Kerbside Waste Collection and Disposal (including the State Landfill Levy)
- Kerbside Recycling Collection and Processing
- Kerbside Hard Wate
- Landfill Rehabilitation
- Climate and Sustainability
- Street Cleaning
- Graffiti Management
- Drainage and Pit maintenance (waste water)
- Public Litter Bins provision collection and disposal
- Waste Collection public spaces
- Waste Transfer Station
The State Government recently issued updated guidance on how the waste charge should be applied. Frankston Council is reviewing the updated guidance and will work on a medium term strategy (2-3 years) to implement the suggested changes from waste to rates.
