Environmental Sustainability Grants

Frankston City Council has adopted the Greening our Future Environment Strategy (2014-2024) and through the Environmental Sustainability Grant program, funding of up to $1,000 is available to support community groups and organisations with environmental and sustainability projects that align with the four key themes of the Strategy:

  1. Protecting and enhancing natural assets
  2. Wise use of natural resources
  3. Minimising environmental impacts
  4. Educating and engaging the community

Application must contribute to positive environmental outcomes (themes 1, 2 and 3) and must include community education and engagement (theme 4) as part of the activity, program or project.

Environmental Sustainability Grants are open to not-for-profit, incorporated community groups and organisations (or those auspiced by a group that is incorporated). Please note they are not available for schools, businesses or individuals.

Rebates for Solar

The Victorian Government’s Solar Homes Program provides rebates for solar panel (PV) systems for homeowners, rental properties (via the landlord) and businesses. Also on offer is solar hot water rebates and rebates for solar and battery installations. The Government wants to help Victorians cut their electricity bills and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Home Heating and Cooling Upgrades Rebates

The Victorian Government is offering homeowners with a concession card or a combined yearly income of less than $90,000 a rebate to upgrade gas heaters, electric heaters, wood heaters and homes with no heating with energy-efficient reverse-cycle air conditioners through the Home Heating and Cooling Upgrades program. Rebates include:

  • $1,000 towards the cost of an energy-efficient reverse-cycle air conditioner,
  • $200 towards the cost of decommissioning your outdated gas heater (if an existing gas heater is being replaced), and
  • $500 towards the cost of upgrading your switchboard (if an upgrade is required to install the rebated reverse-cycle air conditioner).

$250 Power Saving Bonus

The Victorian Government is offering a $250 Power Saving Bonus for Pensioner Concession Card holders and some Health Care Card holders (including JobSeeker, Youth Allowance, Austudy and Abstudy recipients). The $250 bonus is a once-off payment to provide direct support to vulnerable households experiencing energy bill stress due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Victorian Energy Compare

Victorian Energy Compare is an independent Victorian Government price comparison site to help you compare electricity, gas and solar offers from all energy retailers, based on information you provide about your household or small business. Visit the energy comparison site to make sure you’re not paying too much for your energy bills.

Victorian Energy Upgrades Program

Through the Victorian Energy Upgrades Program, the Victorian Government offers discounts and special deals to homeowners and businesses on selected energy saving products and appliances, to make your property more energy efficient and affordable.

The Victorian Government has put together a list of participating businesses who are accredited to pass on the savings to you. The bigger the greenhouse gas reduction, the bigger your potential incentive. Discounts and special deals range from large items such as replacing inefficient heating and cooling systems, hot water systems and large household appliances, through to showerheads, lighting, draught proofing and energy standby eliminators.
