Request copies of building plans or documents

You may need copies of building plans, permits, certificates and other documents to help prepare for building work. You can apply for:

  • copies of residential, commercial, industrial or public plans
  • architectural plans, structural drawings or specifications
  • building or occupancy permits
  • certificates of insurance or final inspection
  • other information including swimming pools, pergolas, garages and soil reports.

You can generally request plans issued by:

  • Frankston City Council from the late 1970s
  • the Shire of Cranbourne from 1995 onwards.

Copies of plans and documents can only be provided to the current owner of a property. If you are not the current owner, or an agent or organisation acting on the owner’s behalf, you will need written consent from the owner before applying.

Your application must include:

  • your contact details
  • details of the properties you are requesting information for
  • details of the property owner
  • written consent from the property owner (if required)
  • required plans or documents
  • preferred method of delivery (email, mail or collection from a Customer Service Centre).

Note: email delivery is only available for requests that are less than 10MB in size).

Step 2.Download the application form

Download and complete the Application for Copy of Building Plans or Documents(PDF, 835KB) form.

Step 3.Submit your application

Send your completed form and supporting documents to:

info@frankston.vic.gov.au

Step 4.What happens next?

We will contact you to pay the relevant fee.

We will provide copies of the requested plans or documents within 21 days via your preferred method of delivery.
