Free Annual Hard Waste Collection 2023

Frankston City Council provides residents with one municipal wide free hard waste collection within each financial (ratings) year where a property has an eligible paid service. 

The 2023 free municipal-wide hard waste collection is taking place May 1 - June 9 for households

Please note: Council waste services are provided where a property has an eligible paid service.

Eligible households will receive notification within their individual letter boxes two weeks prior to collection for their area.

What can and cannot be collected?

There are certain items we can and can't collect when picking up your hard waste. Some items have a maximum weight or size limit, or requirements in the way they must be placed on your nature strip.

What can be collected What cannot be collected
household furniture tyres, wheels or batteries
mattress, mattress base and bed base (maximum 2 pieces) fencing, rubble, soil, bricks or concrete
clothing

poisons or pool chemicals

scrap metal and whitegoods asbestos, cement sheeting or sharps
e-waste such as televisions, computers and DVD players gas bottles, fuel tanks or water tanks
timber (no more than 1.5m in length, maximum 12 pieces) unwrapped glass
branches (no more than 15cm in diametre) green waste placed in plastic bags
tree stumps (less than 30kg) green waste that is untied
carpet rolls (no more than 1.5m in length) waste from industrial or commercial premises
lawn mowers, hot water systems and electrical items waste from businesses operating from home

When do I need to place my items on my nature strip?

Your hard waste items must be placed out on your nature strip for collection no earlier than two days before your scheduled collection and no later than 6am on the Monday of your collection week.

Other disposal options

If your unwanted household items are reusable and in good condition, please consider donating to local charities.

Residents can also take hard waste, green waste and recyclables to the Frankston Regional Recycling and Recovery Centre (FRRRC) all year-round, with some items accepted for free.
