Peninsula Pride

Peninsula Pride

Peninsula Pride Flag Peninsula Pride is a Queer Straight Alliance Youth Project funded through Victorian State Government’s Healthy Equal Youth project which aims to raise awareness, promote diversity, eliminate stigma and discrimination, and improve the overall mental health of young LGBTIQ+ people.

Peninsula Pride works for a safer, more inclusive society for LGBTIQ+ young people across the Frankston and Mornington Peninsula region.

Peninsula Pride has 3 streams building capacity in young people aged 12-25 years and the communities in which they live, work, study and play.

These 3 streams are:

  • Pride in our families – we provide support to young people and their families, including information and pathways through to other support services.
  • Pride in our schools – we provide support to schools including one on one support to rainbow youth, working with schools to assist their staff with professional development, and supporting the establishment Queer Straight Alliance groups in schools.
  • Pride in our communities – providing LGBTIQA+ advice and support to the wider community.

As with all other services provided by headspace Frankston there is no fee for young people to participate in Peninsula Pride.

TAC L2P Learner Driver Mentor Program

L2P Driving The TAC L2P Learner Driver Mentor Program is a community based program providing on-road driving experience to Learner Drivers who would otherwise find it difficult to gain the minimum 120 hours driving required to apply for a Victorian Probationary licence. Following the four stages of the Graduated Licencing System, the program focuses on helping young people become safe confident drivers, in an effort to reduce Victoria’s road toll. It also provides an opportunity for young people to interact with positive adult role models, gain confidence and move towards social independence.

The TAC L2P Program is funded by the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) and the Department of Transport (DoT), supported by the Victorian Government and coordinated by Frankston City Council

With the assistance of volunteer mentor driving supervisors, Council provides this program in Frankston City for young people who may otherwise have no access to a supervising driver or vehicle. This is a free service for eligible young people to help them gain the necessary skills to obtain their Probationary Licence.

The RAD Project

Working with young people 15-24 in the Young Street and Frankston Central Activity District who are at risk of long term socio-economic marginalisation due to disengagement.

The project aims to engage youth in various programs and activities that promote positive behaviours and facilitate their access to local services including health, education and employment. An emphasis is put on building capacity and capability of young people to make meaningful connections and contribution to community through creative projects including Street Art programs. This provides young people with the opportunity to express themselves in creative, prosocial ways and connecting with their community in a positive way.
