Frankston City Housing Strategy

On hold pending further direction from the Victorian Government

The Victorian Government is currently implementing a series of Victorian wide planning reforms in response to the Housing Crisis. Given the extent of the reforms that have occurred, and those that are yet to come, the development of the draft Frankston City Housing Strategy has been paused until such time that there is certainty for how Council’s are to approach and develop this important strategic work.

Project history

The first stage of the Housing Strategy project was to develop a Neighbourhood Character Study and Housing Background Analysis. These background reports formed the basis of the Housing Strategy Discussion Paper.

The Discussion Paper sets out where new houses should be located, the types of houses that can be built, and how neighbourhoods should look and feel.

It all forms part of our Housing Strategy, which will guide the growth of housing in our city over the next 15 years.

Council consulted on the Frankston City Housing Strategy Discussion Paper from 17 July to 3 September 2023. This will inform the Draft Frankston City Housing Strategy, which will be presented to the community for feedback in late 2024.
