Work Ready Program

Locals are gaining the skills and experience they need to have rewarding careers thanks to Frankston Council’s Work Ready Program.

The program is in its fourth year and is continuing to grow and provide invaluable work experience placements for secondary and tertiary students, along with traineeships and apprenticeships to local young people.

The Work Ready Program supports a range of initiatives that assist young people in being equipped with work ready skills. It consists of work experience program for secondary students, placements for tertiary students, structured workplace learning for VCAL students, school-based apprenticeships, Traineeships and Apprenticeships. Participants of the program will gain structured work experience, training, buddying, mentoring and for traineeships and apprenticeships a qualification.

A total of 80 young people have been provided the opportunity to participate in the program since the implementation in 2019. Of the 80 placements, 29 students have been placed in the 2024 calendar year providing evidence of substantial improvement.
