Ballam Park South Sports Pavillion Construction

Location: 260R Cranbourne Road, Frankston (Behind Ballam Park Playground)

Description of Works:

  • Install temporary storage containers (already delivered on site)
  • Demolition of existing pavilion
  • Install temporary portable change rooms
  • Install temporary site shed and site hoarding
  • Construction of new Ballam Park South Sports Pavilion
  • Associated services and landscape works
  • Associated carparks

Timing of Works: Commencing Monday 14 January 2019 with construction anticipated to be complete within 12 months subject to weather and site conditions.

Disruption Expected: Access to the pavilion and immediate surrounding area as illustrated on the attached site establishment plan will be restricted for the duration of Works.

Frankston Pier - Pile repair works by Parks Victoria

Location: Frankston Foreshore - Pier Promenade, Frankston

Description of Works: Repairs of broken pile

Timing of Works: Commencing Monday 17 December 2018

Disruption Expected: The works will require the pier to be closed for a full day whilst contractors work to replace the pile and restore some pile connections on the pier head.

Overport Park - Sports Pavilion Works

Location: Overport Park Sports Pavilion, 1/159R Overport Road

Description of Works: The scope of works includes:

  • Demolition of existing pavilion.
  • Install temporary change rooms.
  • Install temporary site shed/fence and portable toilets for duration of construction.
  • Construction of new Oveport Park Sports Pavilion.
  • Associated services and landscape works.
  • Associated carparks

Timing of Works: Commencing 10 December 2018 with works anticipated to be complete in 15 December 2019.

Disruption Expected: Access to the immediate surrounding area as per attached site management plan.

Construction of Cranhaven Road, Langwarrin

Project Details: Road construction including stormwater drainage, kerb and channel, footpath construction, road pavement and asphalt works, and reinstatements to vehicle crossings and nature strips.

Timing of Works: Works will commence in the First Week of January 2019 and are expected to take around 6-8 weeks to complete, subject to weather conditions.

Disruptions Expected: Some minor delays can be expected due to construction activity. Traffic management will be onsite whilst works are in progress to assist with access to properties.

Yamala Bowling Club Renewal Works 

Location: Yamala Bowling Club, 10R Dunstan Street, Frankston South 3199

Description of Works:

  • Removal and replacement of corroded gutters and downpipes
  • Removal and replacement rotten window frames
  • Removal and replacement of internal roller blinds
  • Touch up paint and final clean

Timing of Works: December 2018 (Roller blinds to be installed early in the new year)

Disruption Expected: Use of kitchen, meeting room and office will be restricted during demolition and installation of new window frames which is scheduled for week commencing 10 December 2018.

Paratea Kindergarten Refurbishment Works

Location: 1/12R Paratea Avenue, Frankston South

Description of Works:

  • Site establishment (Set up site compound, environmental protection measures)
  • Internal and external demolition works
  • Construction of new entrance verandah
  • Internal alterations
  • New internal fit out

Timing of Works: Works are scheduled to commence on Wednesday 5 December 2018 with expected completion by first week of February 2019. 

Disruption Expected: The Centre will be closed until mid February 2019.

Road Construction Works - Langwarrin South

Project Details: Road construction including stormwater drainage, kerb and channel, road pavement and asphalt works, and reinstatements to vehicle crossings and nature strips.

Location: Newton Avenue and Weeroona Road, Langwarrin South, including the upgrade of the intersection of Newton Avenue and Warrandyte Road.

Timing of Works: Works will commence on Monday 26 November and are expected to take around 6 months to complete, subject to weather conditions.

Disruptions Expected:  Some minor delays can be expected due to construction activity. Traffic management will be onsite whilst works are in progress to assist with access to properties.

Upgrade Works - Bayport Reserve Playground

Location - 32R Richard Drive (Bayport Reserve), Langwarrin

Description of Works: 

The scope of works includes:

  • Demolition
  • Site prep & earthworks
  • Play equipment installation
  • Playground under surfacing
  • Paving
  • Drainage
  • Grassing
  • Planting
  • Landscaping
  • Rock and Timber works
  • Park Furniture

Timing of Works:
Commencing Monday 19 November 2018 with anticipated to be completed by January 2019, subject to weather and site conditions.

Disruption Expected:    
Site, Traffic and Pedestrian Management will be in place for the entire duration of works to maintain public safety.
Every effort will be made to minimize inconvenience however there may be some minor disturbance to residents during this time.

Upgrade Works - Southgateway Playground

Location - Southgateway Reserve Playground, Langwarrin

Description of works
The proposed works include demolition of existing aged equipment, park furniture, paths and landscape. The new playground design includes:

  • combination play unit
  • swings
  • seesaw
  • basket swing
  • play archway structure
  • new park furniture
  • new gateway entrances
  • new path network
  • surrounding landscaping

Timing of Works
Commencing October 15, 2018 with expected completion late December 2018.

Disruption Expected
Visitors will need to use alternative pedestrian paths in the vicinity of the works zone, as access will be restricted during construction. Alternative playgrounds are available at Northgateway Reserve, Monique Reserve and Lloyd Park.

Playne Street Pedestrian Bridge Renewal - Kananook Creek, Frankston

Description of Works: Replacement timber bridge of a matching style to the existing, with a wider deck to accommodate improved pedestrian access.

Timing of Works:  Demolition of the bridge is to be completed in September 2018. Installation of the replacement structure is expected to be complete by the end of 2018.

Disruptions Expected: No creek crossing will be available at this location for a period of several months. Alternate crossings are available via Wells Street and Davey Street bridges.

Seaford Pier Temporary Closure - Upgrade Works

Description of Works: Parks Victoria is undertaking upgrades to the Seaford Pier. Works include the replacement of 50 timber piles, crossheads, beams, decking and handrails.

Timing of Works: Currently underway from late August with expected completion by November 2018.

Disruption Expected: The Seaford Pier will be closed during works. The northern section of the car park for the Beach Café and Seaford Life Saving Club will also be closed. Limited parking will still be available however there will also be traffic disruptions in the area. 

Alternative piers to fish or visit within close proximity include the Frankston Pier and Mordialloc Pier. For more information please contact Parks Victoria on 13 19 63.

Overport Park - Sports Pavilion and Oval Upgrade

Description of Works: Frankston City Council in partnership with the Victorian Government is developing an exciting new sports pavilion and upgrades to Oval 2. Key features will include:

  • Female-friendly change rooms
  • Unisex umpire facilities
  • Community room, kitchen and amenities
  • Public toilets and new car parks
  • Oval 2 refurbishment including irrigation and drainage and fencing

Timing of Works:

  • Oval reconstruction: August to December 2018
  • Pavilion construction: October 2018 to December 2019

Frankston Waterfront Playground Redevelopment

Description of Works: The proposed works include demolition of existing aged equipment, refurbishment of the iconic ‘Pixie Hats’ (steel cone roofs) and installation of new junior and senior play spaces utilising durable structural materials more resilient to the harsh coastal environment.

The new playground design includes:

  • sand and water play zones
  • ramps
  • shelter
  • decks
  • swings and slides
  • maintenance of existing trees and foliage
  • and a diverse range of play activities designed to cater for all levels of play. 

Timing of Works - Commencing late June 2018 until late 2018

Disruption Expected:  Temporary closure of the playground. The works have however been timed to occur in the off season through winter and early spring to minimise any potential impacts. Every effort will be made to maintain pedestrian access through the Reserve during the works. Please note – NO trees will be removed and protected trees will be kept safe during construction.

Seaford North Soccer Pavilion - Change Room Extension

Commencing date: Early June

Duration: 6 Months

Location: Railway Parade, Seaford North Reserve

Description of works: Construction of a new female friendly Change Room facility including toilet amenities, referee change rooms, first aid room and storage.

The proposed extension includes the following functions:

  • 2 X Change rooms
  • 2 X Toilet and shower amenities
  • Accessible toilet with shower
  • First Aid room
  • Additional storage

Disruptions expected: Some carpark  spaces will be utilised during the construction for storage of materials and access into the site.

Long Island Retarding Basin Upgrade

Commencing date: late May

Location: National Golf Course on Long Island

Duration: Until late 2018

Description of works: The upgrade works will be carried out by John Holland-KBR Joint Venture on behalf of Melbourne Water. These works will include:

  • removal of trees, root ball excavation and backfill of embankment
  • sand filter trench excavation and backfill
  • embankment hardening
  • embankment crest capping
  • sheet pile installation for foundation cut-off wall

Disruption expected: Melbourne Water will do everything possible to minimise disruption during construction although large trucks, noise, dust and worker amenities will occur.

George Pentland Botanic Gardens: Playground

Commencing date: May 2018

Location: George Pentland Botanic Gardens, Williams Street, Frankston

Duration: Expected completion - 8 December, 2018

Description of works: The works include the provision of a new playground facility with a comprehensive range of play items including a custom designed tree house, slides, inclusive carousel, six seater rope swing, net see-saw, spring animals, sand play area and story circle.     

Disruption expected: Visitors will need to use alternative pedestrian access paths in the vicinity of the works zone as access will be restricted during construction.

Frankston Line Crossings managed by Level Crossing Removal Authority

Works Commencing: November 2015

Duration of Works: Ongoing for the next eight years

Location: Various locations along the Frankston Line

The upgrade of Frankston Station is expected to start in autumn 2018.

Description of Works: Removing 50 dangerous and congested level crossings will transform the way people live, work and travel across metropolitan Melbourne and improve safety for drivers and pedestrians

Disruptions Expected: Buses will replace trains during some stages and nearby car parking areas may also be restricted.
