Local youth projects receive funding boost

Friday 2 February 2018

Local youth in Frankston City are set to benefit from a recent funding announcement aimed at providing young people with opportunities and support to reach their full potential.

Minister for Youth Affairs Jenny Mikakos made a special visit to Youth Central yesterday announcing a funding boost of $145,000 over 3 years as part of the Engage! 2018-2020 program to support various Frankston City Council youth programs and services.

Frankston City Mayor Colin Hampton welcomed the announcement, saying the funding will make a great impact in the lives of our local youth.

“It’s important that we keep in mind the voice of our youth when making decisions and I always encourage our youth to share their passion, opinions and ideas with Council,” said the Mayor.

“This funding will contribute towards delivering vital youth related programs such as our Youth Council, providing financial assistance for education and training, and engaging youth in the community.”

“Our youth workers are constantly working on ways to engage local youth and this grant is just rewards for the continued efforts and commitment they deliver.”
