Frankston City Libraries turn the page with reopening

Monday 9 November 2020

Book this in – Frankston City’s Carrum Downs and Frankston Library branches opened today (Monday, 9 November).

Council CEO, Phil Cantillon, said staff had been excitedly looking forward to reconnecting with bookworms in line with COVID-safe measures.

“People can drop into our Frankston and Carrum Downs libraries for 30 minute visits. Numbers will be limited and the opening times have been reduced at each location – check the opening hours of your branch on the library website,” he said.

“Library members can browse and borrow the library’s full collection, including the exciting Read Now range of latest releases. Public computers can be booked and the printing and scanning facilities will be available for use.”

Mr Cantillon said the popular click and collect service will continue via the Frankston, Carrum Downs and Seaford libraries.

Library members will still need to call the library to book a collection time at the Seaford library.  Those who live in Frankston City and are unable to leave their home can contact the library to arrange a home delivery.

Frankston City Libraries Manager, Tammy Goodwin, said library staff had been moved by messages of support sent by residents during lockdown.

“We’d like to thank locals for the heart-warming messages sent to us over the past six months. They’ve meant so much to our library staff,” she said.

All items currently out on loan are due back from 14 January. All returned items will be quarantined for 72 hours before being returned to the library collection - meaning items remain on individual library cards for a few days after they are returned.

The return chutes remain open at the Seaford, Carrum Downs and Frankston libraries, and public programs and learning activities, like the popular 11am Live Storytime on Facebook each Tuesday and Thursday, and FrankTALKS with bestselling and emerging authors, continue to be delivered online.

To take advantage of the click and collect service already available, simply place your items on hold via the Frankston City Libraries website or call the library team on 9784 1020.
