Dr Mrin Nayagam – Silver Linings

Silver Linings contains true stories of resilience from a general practice.

Award-winning local general practitioner, Dr Mrin Nayagam, takes you on a journey with her patients who have overcome the odds in the face of serious medical conditions or traumatic events.

“At the end of the day these stories are inspirational,” said Professor Edward Burn AC.

“They describe the triumph of the human spirit and I commend Dr Nayagam for writing this book. We all have much to learn from it.”

All profits from the sales of this book will go to the Silver Linings Charitable Trust, which supports financially disadvantaged members of the Frankston and Mornington communities.

Keith Badger - Joining loose ends: How a long walk revealed a new life

At the age of 58, Keith Badger suddenly found himself with a dream and desire to return to his birthplace in England and walk.

It was a simple plan, to walk from one end of Britain to the other with his Australian wife, Debby.

As they traversed the country, from John O’Groats to Land’s End, Keith and Debby found themselves confronting far greater challenges than the landscape and the shocking weather.

Joining Loose Ends: How a long walk revealed a new life is an adventure story about a long walk that stretched a couple to their limits. However, in candidly sharing his life story and vulnerability, the author reveals with great honesty how in walking he found richness in the world beyond his former business and consumer lifestyle and eventually came to learn what it means to be human.

Based on Keith’s diary entries, the book reveals his personal tale of loss and his emotional tsunami in which he realised the aftershocks his sons experienced when he unexpectedly found new love, just 51 days after the death of his first wife.

Join Keith Badger at Frankston Library on Saturday 8 December at 1pm.
