Council’s Compliance and Safety Team has been strengthened to be highly visible on our streets and beaches this summer with new look uniforms and vehicles.
Two new four-wheel drive Colorado vehicles with brightly-coloured Council branding will be patrolling the streets providing a safer environment for residents and visitors alike.
These replacement vehicles are multi-use with provisions for equipment deployment, animal seizures and off-road use.
They will complement the beach buggy which undertakes beach patrols every day throughout summer.
“Residents have told us they want a stronger, more visible presence in our streets and on our beaches at peak periods,” Frankston City Mayor Darrel Taylor said.
“The additional presence and use of these new vehicles should lead to the earlier detection of those who flaunt local laws and disturb the peace.
“It will also increase the feeling of safety amongst our residents and visitors, “ Cr Taylor said.
He said Council was committed to a proactive approach to safety.
Council’s Compliance and Safety Team will conduct the patrols every day throughout summer on our beaches and foreshore.
Officers will concentrate their efforts on compliance of dog regulations and anti-social behaviour and will work closely with police if crimes are detected.
The new distinctive navy blue uniforms will also ensure that residents are able to easily identify Council officers.
