Nominations open for Youth Mayor 2019
Frankston City Council is calling on local young people aged between 18 and 21 to put their hand up for the exciting new role of Frankston City Youth Mayor.
The 12 month voluntary position offers the chance to develop an interest in the local government, build leadership skills such as public speaking and advocate the interests of local youth to Council.
Working alongside Council and the local Youth Council, the Youth Mayor will attend Council events with the Mayor while addressing the needs and concerns of young people within Frankston City.
About the Youth Mayor Role
- This initiative was introduced to provide a member of the community with exposure to local government processes and engagement with the public.
- This opportunity is offered to those aged between 18 and 21.
- Following this, the Youth Council will review all applications and depending on the amount received, short-list the applicants to three (3), who will then be asked to attend an interview.
- A decision on who the Youth Mayor will be is a resolution of Council and a report will be presented to Council at its meeting in February, under confidential.
Applications close on Friday 30 November 2018.
