Draft Investment Policy

The Investment Policy was originally adopted in 2014 to provide guidance on the effective and responsible utilisation of Council’s surplus cash funds within the government legislative framework and conforms to applicable Federal and State Victorian Government regulations. Council proposes to make various amendments to this existing Policy, to ensure that Council financial assets are well managed and support outcomes of financial sustainability.

The Statutory and Discretionary Reserve Policy is a new Council Policy to provide guidance over the creation, management and utilisation of Council’s Statutory and Discretionary Financial Reserves. Financial Reserves are funds that have been set aside from various funding sources for future capital and operational commitments. It is appropriate that Council has a policy in place to provide oversight in relation to the management of these funds.

Copies of the proposed updated and new policies are available from the Civic Centre during office hours or on Council’s website

Any person may make a written submission to the proposed new Policies. All submissions received on or before 25 November 2019 will be considered and included as part of the Council Report that will be presented to Council at its Ordinary Meeting on Monday 16 December 2019.

Submitters should note that unless a submitter requests to the contrary, copies of submissions (including the submitters’ names and addresses) may also be included in the Council meeting agenda and minutes, which are a permanent public record, and which are published on Council’s website.
