Community Consultation - Draft Public Submissions and Question Time Policy

Council’s Governance Local Law No. 1 of 2018 provides for public submissions and question time to be conducted at Council meetings, in accordance with any policy adopted by Council. The existing Public Submissions and Question Time Policy was adopted by Council on 13 April 2015.

Council proposes to make various amendments to the existing Policy, to achieve consistency with the Governance Local Law No. 1 of 2018. The proposed changes include:

  • removal of reference to the Chair granting an extension of time for public submissions;
  • reference to live streaming processes;
  • details on how questions will be handled;
  • guidelines for including questions within the public minutes of a meeting; and
  • amending the deadline for Questions without Notice to be 4pm

Any person may make a written submission to the proposed new Policy.

All submissions received on or before Monday 22 April 2019 will be considered and included as part of the Council Report that will be presented to Council at its Ordinary Meeting on Monday 13 May 2019.

Submitters should note that unless a submitter requests to the contrary, copies of submissions (including the submitters’ names and addresses) may also be included in the Council meeting agenda and minutes, which are a permanent public record, and which are published on Council’s website.
