Boulevard tree planting: Stage 2 Cranbourne Road and Stage 3 Nepean Highway

Boulevard Tree planting along Cranbourne Road.

Council plans to undertake street tree planting along Cranbourne Road and Nepean Highway in 2020, as Stage 2 of the Bulk Street Tree Planting project — to improve the attractiveness of  key roads within the municipality.

The project will be completed in stages over the coming years, with Stage 1 works already completed in 2017/18 from Fletcher Road to Moorooduc Highway.

Stage 2 works will include Bulk Street Tree Planting along 3km of Cranbourne Road, between Moorooduc Highway and Peninsula Link.

Stage 3 will include Bulk Street Tree Planting along 1.3km on Nepean Highway between Liddesdale Avenue to Pier Promenade.

The program facilitates pockets of strategic tree planting to create boulevards and gateways leading to Frankston city centre.

Council proposes to do infill planting with adaptable natives to fill in the gaps after removing trees specified in the arborist assessment. This is a precautionary measure to avoid potential accidents due to deterioration of trees identified as 'end of life.'.

Timeline: Stage 2

Scheduled to commence in March 2020 and Stage 3 in March 2021.
