Impacted Council Facilities and Public Spaces

Due to the evolving situation surrounding COVID-19 and the announcements by Federal and State Government regarding public health and safety, Council facilities and public spaces are affected:

Frankston Library

Public libraries remain closed until further notice. The facilities can be used solely as a venue for essential services or support groups with up to 10 people

This include Frankston, Seaford and Carrum Downs. While physical locations are closed, online resources are available 24/7 including Story Box Library for the kids, eBooks and eAudiobooks. Please visit the Frankston Libraries website.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Frankston Arts Centre

Remains closed until further notice. This is reviewed and updated monthly, at this point it is not anticipated that the Arts Centre will reopen until at least 31 July 2020

Frankston Visitor Information Centre

Remains closed to the public until further notice. Please feel free to contact via phone, email and social media.

Ballam Park Homestead

Remains closed to the public until further notice.

The Treasure Chest Resale Shop

Open daily 10am - 3pm until further notice.

Frankston Indigenous Nursery

Remains closed however will take phone or email orders. Find out more.

Community Centres

Remains Closed until further notice. However can be used as a place for delivering essential services such as food bank services for the homeless, support services such as parent groups, youth groups, men’s behaviour change groups and Alcoholics Anonymous, provided they ensure appropriate physical distancing is in place by keeping at least 1.5 metres between people at all times

These include:

  • Frankston North Community Centre
  • Frankston South Community and Recreation Centre
  • Ebdale Community Hub and Learning Centre
  • Karingal PLACE Neighbourhood Centre (with the exception of essential Maternal and Child Health services – see note below)
  • Youth Central and other youth services

Community Halls

Remains Closed until further notice. Peninsula Aquatic and Recreation Centre (PARC)

Remains closed however outdoor boot-camps with a maximum of 10 people including instructors is permitted provided a permit has been issued

Frankston Memorial Park

A maximum of 10 person attendee information for families arranging and attending funeral services at this time. Learn more (135KB).

Frankston Park

Frankston Park is temporarily closed to the public due to ongoing issues with vagrancy and vandalism at the site.

Public toilet facilities are available at nearby Beauty Park and the Frankston Foreshore.

Beaches and Waterfront

Open with stage one of easing restrictions. Victoria allows public gatherings of 10 people which includes household members and other people. A person cannot organise, or knowingly attend a gathering, of more than 10 people. Council is to continue encouraging social distancing with signage in these locations.

Boat ramps and Piers

Open with social distancing encouraged and limit of 10 people still applies when fishing or boating.

Kananook Creek

Open with social distancing encouraged and limit of 10 people still applies when fishing or boating.

Skate Parks

Open with a 20 person limit. Kids and adults must adhere to public gathering limits and practice social distancing.
Any breaches or offending persons can be reported to Victoria Police by calling 131 444.

Playgrounds

Open with a 20 person limit. Kids and adults must adhere to public gathering limits and practice social distancing.

Busking Permit Application

As part of the changes to protect our community and in response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Busking Permits will not be issued until further notice as well as current buskers are not allow to perform as per current government guidelines. Thank you for your understanding.
