Peninsula Pride is a Queer Straight Alliance Youth Project funded through Victorian State Government’s Healthy Equal Youth project which aims to raise awareness, promote diversity, eliminate stigma and discrimination, and improve the overall mental health of young LGBTIQ+ people.
Peninsula Pride works for a safer, more inclusive society for LGBTIQ+ young people across the Frankston and Mornington Peninsula region.
Peninsula Pride has 3 streams building capacity in young people aged 12-25 years and the communities in which they live, work, study and play.
These 3 streams are:
- Pride in our families – we provide support to young people and their families, including information and pathways through to other support services.
- Pride in our schools – we provide support to schools including one on one support to rainbow youth, working with schools to assist their staff with professional development, and supporting the establishment Queer Straight Alliance groups in schools.
- Pride in our communities – providing LGBTIQA+ advice and support to the wider community.
As with all other services provided by headspace Frankston there is no fee for young people to participate in Peninsula Pride.
