Waterfront Festival FAQs

When is the event?

The event is open Saturday 15 February from 11am–10pm and Sunday 16 February from 11am–6pm.

Are fireworks scheduled?

Yes, the fireworks display will be at approximately 9.45pm on Saturday.

Will there be changes to beach access?

Frankston Pier will be closed from 2pm on Saturday to accommodate the fireworks.

Can I bring my pet to this event?

No. Pets are not permitted within the festival site. As per local laws, dogs are not permitted on the beach between 9:30am and 7:30pm. This does not apply to service animals. Please ensure pets are safely restrained during the scheduled fireworks display at 9.45pm Saturday.

How much will the festival and activities cost?

It’s free to attend The Waterfront Festival and there will be plenty of free activities.  Food, beverages, market items and ride tickets will be available to purchase.

Will there be security at the festival?

Yes. Police and crowd-control professionals will be monitoring the event and taking a zero-tolerance approach to unruly behaviour.

Where will I find the information and first aid facilities?

The festival information and first aid marquee will be located in the centre of the event site.

What other facilities are on site?

Toilets Toilet facilities will be located at the Food Truck Square, Lawn and Lounge area and at the Frankston Visitor Information Centre.
ATMs –
ATMs will be located at The Waterfront Festival market and in the Food Truck Square precinct.
Drinking water
- The South East Water hydration station will be located on Pier Promenade. Don’t forget to bring your reusable bottle to refill!
Baby care - A portable parent pod will be located in the Lounge and Lawn area. It will be equipped with a baby change table, feeding chair and mini kitchenette.

Can I consume alcohol at the event?

You can purchase beer, wine and cider from vendors at The Garden Bar. Liquor consumption will only be allowed within the specified area. BYO will not be permitted.

Is the event smoke free?

Yes, Frankston City Council events are smoke free.

Will there be food and drinks available?

There will be a large range of food and beverage options at the event. A list of vendors will be available on the Visit Frankston App, where you can also find more information about The Waterfront Festival.

Is there somewhere I can find out more information?

The Visit Frankston app can be downloaded and is jam packed with information about the festival, activities, specific vendors and more!

What rides will be at the festival?

Rides and Amusements are located in McCombs Reserve and the Boat Ramp carpark. Rides will stop operation at 10.30pm on Saturday and 6pm Sunday; ticket sales will finish 20 minutes prior to last rides each day. For a complete list of rides please see our "What's On at The Waterfront Festival" page.

Is there a second music stage?

Proudly presented by LVK Music, the beach stage runs from 11am–6pm daily.

Here you can find young up and coming live music acts. Take in the tunes and get in on the action with a music making lesson.

Will the Festival still run in extreme weather conditions?
In some conditions it may be necessary for aspects of the event to be modified. In extreme conditions, where it is deemed unsafe to continue, programming may be delayed or cancelled. You can keep up to date by following  The Waterfront Festival Facebook page.

Where is it best to park my car?

We suggest using the following public car parks, however, fees and restrictions may apply, so please check signage.

  • Frankston Arts Centre
  • Frankston Civic Centre
  • Bayside Shopping Centre Entertainment Complex
  • Young Street
  • Frankston Train Station

Can I take public transport to the event?

Yes, we encourage you to take public transport where possible. Head to www.ptv.vic.gov.au to plan your journey.

What carparks will be closed for the event?

Kananook Creek Boat Ramp car park and Pier Promenade North car parks will be closed from 12.01am Friday 14 February.

Pier Promenade South carpark will be closed from 12.01am Saturday 15 February.

All carparks will reopen at 12.01am Monday 17 February.

Is the Kananook Creek boat ramp impacted?

Yes, the Kananook Creek boat ramp will be unavailable from 12.01am Friday 14 February until 12.01am Monday 17 February. The Oliver’s Hill boat ramp will remain open.
