City Nature Challenge 2022
City Nature Challenge 2022 - Frankston City Council
In 2022, Frankston City Council is teaming up with 17 Councils across Greater Melbourne, along with the Field Naturalists Club of Victoria, the Entomological Society of Victoria, and Scouts Victoria to represent Melbourne on the global stage in the City Nature Challenge. Help us compete with cities from around the world by taking pictures of wild plants and animals between the April 29 and the 2nd May 2022 using inaturalist.
What is inaturalist?
iNaturalist is a social network of naturalists, citizen scientists, and biologists built on the concept of mapping and sharing observations of biodiversity across the globe.
iNaturalist is a platform for science and conservation efforts, providing valuable open data to research projects, land managers, other organizations, and the public.
As part of the collaboration between councils for the city nature Challenge 2022, Knox City Council has generously provided the following webinars for those looking to learn how to use iNaturalist or advance their basic skills. Both webinars are hosted by the notable entomologist, Dr Luis Mata, of Melbourne University.
How to use iNaturalist (1) (recording of webinar ran 23rd March 2021)
How to use iNaturalist (2) (recording of webinar ran 20th April 2021)
