Apply for a Drainage Inspection
When is a Drainage Inspection needed?
You will be required to apply for a Drainage Inspection once the installation of all drainage has been complete when undertaking any of the following works:
- Any new developments
- Any new private developments
How do I apply?
To apply for a Drainage Inspection, please call our Engineering Services team on 03 9784 1884
You will need to make sure you have the following information ready:
- The address of the property (mandatory)
- Any related planning or building permit numbers (optional)
Once we process your application a Council Officer will attend your property to conduct an inspection to make sure the works have been installed correctly as per the approved plans.
Please note: this application is only to be made once the installation of drainage has been completed. If an officer visits your site and the site isn’t ready for inspection, you will need to make new application at the same cost.
Why do I need a Drainage Inspection?
A drainage inspection is required in order for Council to make sure your works:
- are installed according to the approved plans
- do not damage Councils existing infrastructure
How much does it cost to apply for a Drainage Inspection?
The total cost of a Drainage Inspection is $235 (non-refundable).
What happens after I apply and pay for my Drainage Inspection?
- Council will conduct an inspection to ensure drainage works have been installed as per the approved plans. The applicant will need to attend site while the inspection is been performed.
- Council will advise you if something needs to be rectified.
What if my drainage works don't comply?
If your drainage works do not comply you will be notified by Council and will need to rectify your works. Once your works have been rectified you will need to reapply for inspection at the same cost.
