Frankston City Council Short Stay Rental Accommodation Local Law 2020 came into operation on 10 April 2020

It is now compulsory for owners of a Short Stay Rental Accommodation property to register the property and renew the registration each financial year.

The Frankston City Council Short Stay Rental Accommodation Local Law 2020 addresses registration, standard of management and the presentation of Short Term Rental Accommodation in the municipality.

The definition of a Short Stay Rental Accommodation is “accommodation provided by the owner of a property, for fee or reward, to another person, for no more than 30 consecutive days on that property, but does not include any property that is required to be registered under any other Act or regulation”.

Apply to Register your Short Stay Rental Accommodation

The fee to register your Short Stay Rental Accommodation is $150.00 per financial year.

Please note: The fee will be calculated on a quarterly pro rata basis, quarterly at the time of application.

How to apply

To apply to register your Short Stay Rental Accommodation you will need:

  • The property address where the accommodation is provided
  • Your credit card details
  • Your contact details
  • Details of advertising platforms used
  • Number of onsite parking spaces provided
  • Property Manager details if applicable
  • Details of your Designated Contact person

(Upon registration and payment you will receive a Certificate of Registration by mail.

Register a Short Stay Rental Accommodation

If you are not able to apply online

You can collect a hard copy registration form from any customer service centres or phone 1300 322 322 and have a registration form mailed to you.

Non-compliance 

Failure to register your Short Stay Rental Accommodation may result in enforcement action being taken including Infringement Notices or Court Action.
