Schools Tree Planting Day

Each year, around 3,000 preschools, primary and secondary schools across Australia take part in Schools Tree Day. Students nation-wide have learnt how to plant, and care for the seedlings they grow.

Schools Tree Day can mark the beginning of a long-term environmental program, engaging students in a fun, hands-on activity that can reinforce their environmental learning. Or it can simply contribute to beautifying the school grounds.

Planet Ark runs this nationwide program, which Council is proud to support. Over the past decade, Council has donated tens of thousands of trees, shrubs and grasses for planting in schools around our municipality.

Free Plants for Frankston City Schools and Preschools

Each year Frankston City Council offers free indigenous tube stock plants to all schools participating in National Tree Day and holds events on School Tree Day.

To receive the plants school need to commit to preparing the site for planting, and watering and maintaining them for a minimum of three years following installation.

Schools have now been contacted with this year’s program details.
