Impact Volunteering connect, match, and support volunteers and organisations.

We are Council’s managing Volunteer Resource Centre in the Frankston area who work to:

  • Match individuals seeking volunteering opportunities with organisations seeking volunteers.

  • Take the burden of finding volunteers off organisations through our Referral Desk pre-screening service.

  • Promote and support volunteering throughout the Frankston and wider community through a range of initiatives.

We currently partner with many organisations and groups in the community and are continuously seeking to grow our network.

Our Purpose

Impact Volunteering exists to increase volunteering opportunities for organisations and individuals to:

  • Enhance their social and environmental contribution to the community

  • Assist building the capacity, capability, resilience and sustainability of the community

  • Enable emergency and systemic relief and recovery from isolation, sickness, distress, disability, misfortune, poverty and deprivation.

Our History

A partnership between Frankston City Council and Frankston Community Support was initially formed in 2007 for the development of a much needed Volunteer Resource Centre providing one point for volunteer enquiries and recruitment.

After 2 years of tremendous effort from both groups the Frankston Volunteer Resource Centre (FVRC) was established in July 2009 and was located in the Frankston Library.

In February 2015, the FVRC became Impact Volunteering.

Our new name helped us to better reflect our purpose, geographical reach and long-term strategic objective to make a significant and sustainable contribution for the benefit of the community.

With the growing need and rapidly changing face of community volunteering over recent years it has been decided that bringing Impact Volunteering back under Frankston City Council services will enable us to continue to provide our valuable service with greater focus and impact in the community. This change was effective from 1st July 2020.

Our services and events will continue to support both community organisations and volunteers in the Frankston municipality.

Our Volunteer Referral Desk now located within Ebdale Community Hub, offers a dedicated service for people looking for volunteer positions through an individual appointment with a friendly volunteer Referral Officer. This unique service also supports organisations who register their volunteer positions by offering an optional pre-screening of potential volunteers before referring them onto individual organisations, reducing recruitment time and effort resulting in a greater success rate in volunteer placement.

Please note – the Volunteer Referral Desk is only taking pre-booked phone consultations until further notice, this service is available Tuesday & Thursday 9 am – 4 pm only.

Melissa King

Impact Volunteering Team Leader

Melissa has a background in working with the community and not for profit organisations.  She has a passion for volunteering, and has a commitment to build ongoing positive relationships with individuals, organisations, business and government sectors, and promoting the benefits volunteering provides to the community as a whole.

Margaret Day

Organisation Support

Margaret, our longest serving volunteer, has been providing administrative support to the Impact team since 2015, and knows office procedures like the back of her hand. A dedicated zoophilist, Margaret also volunteers with Healesville Sanctuary and in her spare time paints Australian wildlife.

Our Referral Desk is our ‘front line’ operation located within Ebdale Community Hub, run by our own dedicated team of volunteer Referral Officers. Contact our friendly team to book a time to chat about available volunteer positions, your interests, skills and time commitments.
