Preventing violence against women and children
Violence against women and children is an abuse of human rights that has a devastating impact on health and wellbeing. There is much we all can do individually and collectively to prevent violence against women from happening in our home, in our community, in our country and in our world.
Violence has been found to be more damaging to the health of Victorian women aged 12 to 44 years than any other well-known risk factor, including high blood pressure, obesity and smoking.
Family violence includes violent or threatening behaviour that coerces or controls a family member or cases that family member to be fearful. This includes physical, sexual, emotional, psychological and financial abuse.
Frankston City Council is committed to promoting gender equity, respectful relationships and preventing family violence.
