Small businesses are an important part of Frankston's economy. Council offers workshops throughout the year to help you gain skills, grow your business and network with local businesses owners and experts.
Here are some workshops coming up:
Self-Employment Assistance Program
Frankston City Council are supporting The Workforce Australia Self-Employment Assistance program which has been designed to help micro businesses:
- Learn about and consider being self-employed
- Decide on a business idea and check if it will work
- Develop a business plan
- Get a business up and running, or
- Adjust their own existing business to keep it viable
Connecting with the program will give you access to a range of free services, workshops, courses and personalised business mentoring. This includes:
- Exploring Self-Employment Workshops (22 August & 29 August, 2022)
- Small Business Training
- Help to develop a Business Plan
- Small Business Coaching
- Business Health Checks, and
- Business Advice Sessions
Attend the free online information session on 9 August to see how the Self-Employment Assistance program can help you - suitable for micro businesses with less than five employees.
The session will be hosted by Transcend, the approved provider for the program within the South Eastern Melbourne and the Peninsula region
Transcend is a business advisory focused on supporting those small business owners aspiring to start a new business or wanting to grow their existing business.

Invest Frankston Digital Marketing Masterclass
Kicking off on 18 April 2023
The Digital Marketing Masterclass will be delivered at the Frankston Library Community Room by The Commute Agency over three weeks in April /May at $100 per person for all three sessions to ensure enrolment places are secured and attendees will aim to attend all workshops.
The three session dates are:
- Tuesday, 18 April, 2023, 9.30am - 3pm
- Wednesday, 26 April, 2023, 9.30am - 3pm
- Tuesday, 2 May, 2023, 9.30am - 3pm
This in-person masterclass series teaches business owners practical digital marketing skills. You’ll receive training, tips and resources to upskill and build your online presence.
Learn about the digital marketing landscape and walk away with a digital toolkit and actionable strategy for your business.
Aimed for those with an existing understanding of digital marketing. You'll learn practical skills and techniques to improve your online presence. Become more confident in understanding key aspects of digital marketing, such as:
- digital strategy and content creation
- effective marketing campaigns
- social media insights and analytics
- advertising
- email marketing.
You can apply yourself or nominate a staff member to join. Those who currently use digital marketing as part of their role will benefit from this series.

Business Basics Workshops
Kicking off on 23 May 2023
Open to all Frankston City residents and hosted by industry experts, you can gain fundamental skills about getting started, creating a business plan, finance management, marketing, branding, website design, social media and more.
Five Sessions will be held in person and will provide you with valuable resources, council contacts and the opportunity to network with others. You have the flexibility to join one or more of the sessions and there is a small discount to join all five sessions. Sessions will go for two hours each.
