Frankston City Heritage Study

Introduction

The eastern districts of the City are part of the fastest growing region in Victoria and hence the City faces a challenge of integrating and retaining valued parts of the its heritage with the needs of ongoing development. Appropriate conservation management of the City's heritage places allows the community to retain signposts to their history. The conservation of these places will lend a greater sense of continuity and remind people that they live in a special environment. Too often the spread of suburbia engulfs rare and beautiful places.

Frankston City has begun a heritage program to ensure that this does not happen in the municipality and hence has funded this study. What follows in this report are recommendations which will allow continuation of this program.
