Due Dates For Payments

Rate Notices

The 2016-2017 Annual Rate Notice will be distributed in July 2016. Reminder notices for Instalments 2, 3 and 4 will be sent approximately three-four weeks before the due date.
Please note: The Annual Rate Notice is also your 1st Instalment notice - you will not receive a reminder for the 1st instalment.

Payment by Instalments Only

All ratepayers are required to pay their rates in instalments.

2016-2017 Four Instalment Due Dates

  • 1st Instalment: 30 September 2016
  • 2nd Instalment: 30 November 2016
  • 3rd Instalment: 28 February 2017
  • 4th Instalment: 31 May 2017

Direct Debit Options

Direct debit is available to ratepayers who do not have any arrears outstanding.
Property owners can choose one of three payment options by direct debit:
1. Four instalments
2. Nine instalments - apply by 16 September 2016
3. All instalments in one advance direct debit

If you already have a direct debit agreement with Council to pay your rates, this arrangement will continue, unless you have dishonoured your agreement or advised Council in writing that you wish it to discontinue.

Direct Debit Date Options

Four Instalments

Four instalments direct debited directly out of your account on the following dates:

  • 1st Instalment: 30 September 2016
  • 2nd Instalment: 30 November 2016
  • 3rd Instalment: 28 February 2017
  • 4th Instalment: 31 May 2017

Nine Instalments

Nine instalments direct debited directly out of your account on the following dates (nine instalments is strictly only available via a formal direct debit arrangement with Council after having completed the Council Direct Debit Agreement form and have it approved by Council):

  • 1st Instalment: 30 September 2016
  • 2nd Instalment: 31 October 2016
  • 3rd Instalment: 30 November 2016
  • 4th Instalment: 6 January 2017
  • 5th Instalment: 31 January 2017
  • 6th Instalment: 28 February 2017
  • 7th Instalment: 31 March 2017
  • 8th Instalment: 1 May 2017
  • 9th Instalment: 31 May 2017

Please Note

If a payment due date falls on a weekend or public holiday, the debit from your nominated account will occur on the next business day.

Financial Hardship

In the event you are unable to pay your rates and charges within the required timeframe/s, please contact Council immediately, otherwise interest and/or legal fees may apply. Council Officers can then assist in walking you through the process. Applications for Financial Hardship assistance are required to be in writing, along with supporting evidence of hardship. By contacting Council, you can arrange a mutually acceptable rate payment plan, such as making small fortnightly or monthly repayments, to suit your budget, and have your rates paid by the end of financial year.

Council encourages property owners experiencing financial hardship to contact Council as soon as possible.

Arrears and Interest 

(Local Government Act 1989 Section 172; Penalty Interest Rates Act 1983 Section 2)
All arrears are due and payable immediately and may be subject to legal action for recovery. All costs will be borne by the property owners.

  • Interest will be charged for 2016-2017 is 9.5% per annum on all payments not received by the due dates
  • Interest on Instalment Payments will be backdated to the due date of the instalment
  • Interest will continue to accrue until paid in full
