However you like to celebrate your Australia Day, from going on an exciting adventure to having a relaxed barbecue with family and friends, there’s plenty on offer in Frankston to keep you busy.
From exciting events and art exhibitions to local markets and natural reserves, there’s something to suit everyone’s interest.
This year, we welcome the Australian Beach Games to the Frankston Foreshore, a new and exciting festival of sports, music, food and fun for participants and spectators alike. Just a short stroll along the waterfront is the annual Sand Sculpting Australia Exhibition, a family favourite this year showcasing Aladdin and the Arabian Tales.
If you’re looking for some fresh produce or the perfect gift for someone special, then local markets have you covered with a huge range of stallholders to choose from.
Or perhaps you’re interested in getting outdoors and amongst nature, in which case Frankston City has over 55 natural reserves and parks to explore, such as the Kananook Creek Reserve, Langwarrin Flora and Fauna Reserve and Sweet Water Creek.
Frankston City Council will be hosting a special Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony at the Frankston Arts Centre on Australia Day, where the 2018 Citizens of the Year will also be announced.
Mayor Colin Hampton said “for me, Australia Day is a great opportunity for the community to come together as one to celebrate our rich multicultural society, as well as enjoying a fun day with the family and friends,”
“I look forward to welcoming our newest citizens to Frankston City and celebrating the exceptional work of our Citizens of the Year as part of our annual Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony.”
