Frankston Coast Guard Consultation
Frankston City Council has 14 key priorities over the next 4 years. One of these priorities is a new Coast Guard Building and safe boat haven. Currently the most ideal location for a safe boat haven is at the base of Olivers Hill.
To progress this priority the Federal Government has provided a grant of $500,000 to collect data and undertake modelling to establish:
- What the impact will be on the foreshore
- How to best position a breakwater to protect smaller water craft and boats in bad weather, and provide safer access to the boat ramp
This haven will also provide for police vessels and provide a permanent mooring for the Coast Guard vessel to enable a rapid response to emergencies and search and rescue operations.
At its Ordinary Meeting on 4 September, Council resolved to consult the community on this proposed project. This will also enable further consideration of the proposed new Coast Guard Building.
