Harmony Day is celebrated throughout Australia on 21 March, which coincides with the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
Harmony Day is a celebration of our cultural diversity- a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home.
The message of Harmony Day is ‘everyone belongs’, and to respect cultural and religious diversity and foster sense of belonging.
Bringing communities together through sport, food, music and entertainment plays an important role in promoting cultural diversity. It creates an opportunity to think, talk about and recognise how our differences and our similarities make Australia a great place to live.
Celebrating Harmony Day can take any form you wish - big or small from hosting a morning tea to larger community activities or attending a local celebration.
