Mayor offers $10,000 assistance to Frankston students

Frankston City Council Mayor, Cr Kris Bolam JP, has introduced a Mayoral Bursary Program offering one off financial assistance packages totalling $10,000 to Frankston students who may experience disadvantage and not usually able to access educational opportunities.
Two $2,000 bursaries and 12 $500 bursaries will be offered through this program to Frankston students studying at Chisholm Institute of TAFE Frankston Campus, Monash University Peninsula Campus, or another university. Students may be currently studying or commencing studies in Semester 1 of 2012. Both undergraduate and postgraduate students can apply.
Frankston City Mayor, Cr Kris Bolam JP, said Frankston City is supporting its commitment to be a 'Learning City' and is delighted to announce the Mayoral Bursary Program.
"Council is committed to engaging local students and their parents to actively participate in their education to enhance their wellbeing, and business and employment opportunities in the future. By offering financial assistance packages to students who otherwise would not be able to continue their learning brings me great satisfaction and is an important investment in our future," the Mayor said.
The Mayoral Bursary Program highlights the importance of giving back to the community and improving educational opportunities, while also contributing to the local economy and to the health and wellbeing of local students.
The Mayoral Bursary Program is consistent with Frankston City's Economic Development Strategy 2011 and the Council Plan Strategic Objective of 'A Place of Business Prosperity that Values Learning'.
